White Panther win first-ever Baseball5 National Championship in Puerto Rico

The Puerto Rico Baseball Federation introduced a Baseball5 programme in August 2023. "Hopefully, the number of people interested in this exciting discipline will keep growing," commented José Quiles, the National Federation President.

White Panther defeated Los del Sur in the final, 5-1, to win the first-ever Baseball5 National Championship in Puerto Rico. Blue Jaguars claimed third place.

Seven teams competed in 35 games to complete the tournament. The Perpetuo Socorro (Perpetual Aid) Academy in Miramar hosted the event in an indoor venue.

"This is just a first step," commented José Quiles, the Puerto Rico Baseball Federation (FBPR) President. "Hopefully, the number of people willing to enjoy this exciting discipline will continue to grow."

FBPR started its Baseball5 programme in August 2023. The WBSC activated educational courses for coaches, game officials and physical education teachers in February 2024. FBPR reached an agreement with the Department of Education.
