WBSC U-23 Baseball World Cup star Doyeong Kim becomes youngest KBO player to enjoy 30-30 season

Kim hit his 30th home run on August 15, at 20 years, 10 months and 13 days. Former record holder Jaehong Park was 22 years, 11 months, and 27 days old when he recorded the 30-30 milestone in 1996.

Doyeong Kim became the youngest player in the Korea Baseball Organization (KBO) league history to enjoy a 30 home runs and 30 stolen bases season when he hit the 30th home run of his 2024 season on August 15.

Kim - born on October 2, 2003 - was 20 years, 10 months and 13 days old when he broke the record.

He surpassed Jaehong Park, who was 22 years, 11 months and 27 days old when he recorded the 30-30 milestone in 1996.

Kim is having a career season. He has gone 147-for-425, a .346 batting average, in 110 games with 82 RBIs.

Kim was Korea's starting shortstop at the WBSC U-23 Baseball World Cup 2021. He appeared in six games, going 6-for-17 (.353 batting average) with four RBIs.

Korean fans have nicknamed Kim The Stepson of the Wind after Kiwoom Heroes outfielder Jung-Ho Lee, a Tokyo 2020 and WBSC Premier12 star, compared Kim's skill with his legendary father, Jong-Beom Lee. Jong-Beom was known as The Son of the Wind, and Jung-Ho as The Grandson of the Wind.

KBO is the top professional league in Korea. Attendance in 2024 is on pace for record numbers. The regular season has had 5,901,265 spectators so far, an average of 14,464 per game. The attendance record for a single season was 8.4 million fans in 2017.
