WBSC awards 450 youth bats to 16 European countries for development

“The WBSC is grateful to have a partner like Pitch In For Baseball,” say WBSC co-Presidents Riccardo Fraccari and Don Porter.

Youth bats – 450 of them – were awarded to sixteen European National Federations this past weekend, as the European Family of Baseball and Softball National Federations gathered in Prague to attend Congresses of the Confederation of European Baseball and European Softball Federation that were organised together and hosted by the Czech Baseball Association.

The youth bats were granted by the WBSC, in collaboration with USA Baseball and Mr. David Rhode, Executive Director of “Pitch In For Baseball”, which is based in the U.S. and is a goodwill organisation specializing in the collection of baseball kit and its re-distribution to young athletes and communities that would benefit the most.

WBSC leadership was very pleased with its first collaboration with Pitch In for Baseball.

“The WBSC is grateful to have a partner like Pitch In For Baseball,” said WBSC co-Presidents Riccardo Fraccari and Don Porter. “We share
a vision to reduce obstacles, maximize access to sport and provide all children and young people the opportunity to overcome challenges and make their lives — and the communities in which they live – better through sport.”

In the coming weeks, the WBSC, in cooperation with Pitch In For Baseball, will be organising an award of approximately 2,000 bats to over twenty-five National Federation members in Asia, the Middle East and South America. The WBSC will also organize distribution of “youth starter kits” in these regions.
