Softball Technical Commissioners seminar successfully held in Xian, China

The seminar, led by WBSC International Technical Commissioner (TC) Anna Battigelli, was held from 31 August to 3 September.

The World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC), Softball Asia (SA) and the Chinese Softball Association (CSA) jointly organised a seminar for Softball Technical Commissioners. The four-day course was held in Xian, China, with 26 attendees.

The seminar, led by WBSC International Technical Commissioner (TC) Anna Battigelli, was held from 31 August to 3 September. During the first two days, the participants received theoretical instruction, while the last two days they moved to the field for practical sessions. Battigelli was assisted by Cherfy Lee Chong Fai and Sally Lim from Softball Asia.

On Day 1, the attendees reviewed the role of the TCs during a WBSC event, with a focus on the documents used by them and some case analysis. Day 2 started with a review of the TC Manual and the TC Academy (available also online), and finished with a test and assignments for the practical sessions.

The course aims to prepare the attendees for managing the field at a WBSC event, and it is tailored for aspiring WBSC International and Local/National Softball Technical Commissioners.

This seminar will help CSA to strengthen their technical knowledge and experience, with the men's and women's softball competitions at The World Games 2025 in Chengdu, China, fast approaching.

Recently, China hosted the WBSC U-18 Women's Softball World Cup Group B in Pingtan with the participation of six national teams. Two of the six TCs in the event were from China.
