Six time defending World Champion Japan complete three-day camp ahead of 2024 Women's Baseball World Cup Finals

Manager Risa Nakajima introduced six new players: "Everybody knows that the team comes first."

The Japanese Women's Baseball National Team completed a three-day camp at the Miyoshi Kinsai Stadium, the home of the 2023 Women's Baseball World Cup Group B, beating the junior high school Higashi Hiroshima Boys, 12-9.

"We discussed building a team from scratch as we opened camp," commented manager Risa Nakajima. "Everybody is aware that the team comes first."

Nakajima shared with every player a training programme leading to the summer.

"Some are in good condition, others are not. I want everybody to be 100% ready in July."

"We had six new players, and our priority was to secure communication with the newcomers", commented Iori Miura, a 32-year-old veteran and a four-time World Champion.

Rookie pitcher Wakana Mori said she has a clear goal: "Japan has won six consecutive World Cups and I want to be part of a seventh consecutive win. We want to showcase the strength of women's baseball in Japan."

World No. 1 Japan is a six-time Women's Baseball World Champion and will defend the title at the 2024 Women's Baseball World Cup Finals presented by CARNEXT, which will be held from July 28 to August 3 in Thunder Bay, Canada.
