International Baseball alum Corey Seager reaches 200 home run milestone

The two-time World Series MVP hit his 200th home run on August 29, becoming the first left-handed hitting shortstop to reach the milestone.

Corey Seager became the first Major League Baseball (MLB) left-handed hitting shortstop to reach the 200-home run milestone.

Born in 1994 in Charlotte, North Carolina, Seager played for the US U-16 National Team in 2010 (pictured above) while he attended Northwest Cabarrus High School.

Seager is the youngest of three brothers who played professional baseball. Kyle (born in 1987) played for the Seattle Mariners from 2011 to 2021. Justin (born in 1992) was drafted by the Seattle Mariners in 2013 and played in 350 Minor League Baseball (MiLB) games from 2011 to 2017.

Corey was drafted by the Los Angeles Dodgers out of high school in 2012 and received a US$ 2.35 million bonus, electing to turn professional instead of attending the University of South Carolina.

The Dodgers traded him to the Texas Rangers before the 2022 season, and Seager helped his new club win the 2023 World Series, earning another MVP award.

He hit his 200th home run on August 29, helping the Rangers win against the Chicago White Sox, 2-1.

Seager had a career season in 2023, hitting 33 home runs in 119 games. He has 30 in 120 games in 2024, his third consecutive All-Star season and fifth in his stellar career.
