Florida Titanes win Puerto Rico Double-A League 2024

Titanes defeated Yabucoa Azucareros in five games to claim their first pennant since 1982.

Florida Titanes defeated Yabucoa Azucareros, 9-5, in Game Five of the final series at the Pedro Román Meléndez Stadium in Manatí to claim the 2024 Puerto Rico Superior Double-A League titles.

Florida dominated the game from the start and dominated the series overall. Yabucoa earned their only win in Game Two of the series.

It's the first pennant since 1982 for the Titanes.

"This season was a dream come true. Florida has waited for this title for a long time. The city deserves it, and it's my privilege to win it for the city," commented Antonio Tony Vega, the Titanes manager.

Florida second baseman Juan Carlos Martínez earned MVP honours with a .500 batting average. He collected eight hits, scored six runs and batted in four.

Meanwhile, the Baseball Federation of Puerto Rico (FBPR) announced the introduction of pitch-count limitations in the Youth Double-A League.

1-40 - no rest day
41-55 - one rest day
56-75 - two rest days
76-90 - three rest days
91-105 (maximum pitch count) - four rest days.

Teams failing to comply will lose the game, and the pitcher exceeding the pitch limit will be suspended for three games. The manager responsible for the decision will be suspended for four games.
