Dragons lead Tanzania Baseball League undefeated

This is the second edition of the four-team league. The regular season will run through September, and the finals are scheduled for December.

The Dragons lead the Tanzania Baseball League undefeated after four games. The Tigers follow with three wins. The Giants are in third place with one win and the Fighters are fourth, still looking for their first success.

Each team will compete in an 18-game regular season through 29 September.

A Placement Round with a page-system format will follow. The round will start with the top two finishers (Game 1) and the third-place and fourth-place teams (Game 2) facing each other. The Game 2 winner will play the Game 1 loser, with the winner facing the Game 1 winner in the final.

The Tigers are the TNBL defending champions. On weekends, the games are held at the Koshien Stadium in the nation's capital, Dar es Salaam.

Tanzania was the first country involved in the Japan-Africa Baseball & Softball Foundation (J-ABS) Africa 55 Koshien Project and has hosted 11 Koshien Baseball and seven Koshien Softball secondary school championships.

Ghana is expected to launch their version of the Koshien championships in August. J-ABS has already started human resources development and educational activities aiming at the launch of school championships in Kenya, Nigeria, South Sudan, Benin, Cameroon and Zambia.
