Coaching staff announced for 2021 Singapore National Softball Teams

Singapore hope to qualify for the WBSC Men's Softball World Cup 2022 and defend their gold medal at the South East Asian Games.

The Singapore Baseball and Softball Association (SBSA) announced their National Softball Team coaches for both the men's and women’s squads. Ruoh Jie KOH and Farhan HARAHAP will steer the men’s teams, while Elaine CHUA will lead the two women’s teams.

Koh and HaraHap will lead the senior, U-23, U-18 and U-16 National Teams. Last year, they coached Singapore to ninth place at the WBSC U-18 Men’s Softball World Cup, where they stunned Argentina on the opening day of the tournament with an 8-3 victory.

Koh also was part of Singapore’s staff during the WBSC Men’s Softball World Cup 2019.

“I am grateful and very honoured to be appointed as Coach of the Singapore Men's Softball Team. The team has come a long way and achieved major breakthroughs over the past three years,” said Koh.

“Thank you, SBSA, for giving me the opportunity to continue to contribute back to the sport and coaching the men's teams alongside my colleagues. It’s been a successful run for the men's team for the past three years,” added Harahap.

Singapore earned an historic gold medal at the South East Asian Games 2019, defeating host Philippines in the final.

Chua will be the head coach of the Senior and Junior Women’s National Softball Teams.

"I feel truly honoured and delighted to be appointed as coach for the Singapore Women’s Softball Team, and I would like to thank the Singapore Baseball and Softball Association for this privilege and opportunity. The team is embarking on a new chapter and faces many challenges ahead, but together with a supportive SBSA and a team of passionate players, I am excited to forge a new path," said Chua.
