CMWANG, SHE SHE take fifth, sixth spots in HUGAN ePremier12 with wins in Chinese Taipei Finals

Two more of the best WBSC eBASEBALL™: POWER PROS players in the world punched their ticket to the HUGAN ePremier12 after reaching the final of the ePremier12 Chinese Taipei Finals presented by TLLB.

CMWANG and SHE SHE clinched their berths in the HUGAN WBSC ePremier12 2024 by winning their respective semifinals in the ePremier12 Chinese Taipei Finals presented by TLLB on Saturday, with CMWANG taking home the title of Chinese Taipei champion.

“I was relatively new in the games, and when I joined the league, I finished last in my first season," CMWANG said after the finals. "I appreciate the experience I have gained from those days and the lessons I have learned from other elite players.”

The ePremier12 Chinese Taipei Finals presented by TLLB was staged at New Taipei City Esports Base and featured six of the best players from Chinese Taipei, who qualified via the in-person CTBC Brothers POWER PROS Festival in June and the online TLLB Chinese Taipei eBaseball™ Cup, which took place in July.

Both CMWANG and SHE SHE played in Group B prior to making it to bracket play. CMWANG made it to the bracket rounds by defeating Taiwan’s Super 3-1 and SHE SHE 2-0 in pool play to finish undefeated with a 2-0 record. SheShe made it to the bracket rounds with a 1-1 record, defeating Taiwan’s Super 3-2, but losing to CMWANG 2-0.

In the semifinals, SHE SHE clinched a spot in the HUGAN ePremier12 by defeating Dashu, who went 2-0 in Group A, by a final score of 2-0, thanks to an RBI double by Hoshimitsu Hoshizora in the second inning, and a solo home run by Hanao Fukuya in the third inning. CMWANG likewise clinched his HUGAN ePremier12 spot by defeating DoubleBass, who went 1-1 in Group A play, 3-0 in the other semifinal, with all of his runs coming in the first inning.

The final game to determine the Chinese Taipei champion saw CMWANG notch eight runs in the first inning against SheShe, nearly missing a chance to invoke the 10-run top-of-the-inning mercy rule, en route to an 8-1 one-inning mercy rule win.

“He played very well today; he is a big-time player,” SHE SHE said of CMWANG following the final. “We will do our best in November.”

CMWANG and SHE SHE join a rapidly-increasing field in the HUGAN ePremier12 that includes SHORA, who qualified by winning March’s WBSC eBaseball™ Series 2023 World Finals; NEGRAY, who won the 1st Global Qualifier Play-Off; Tomokun, who won the 2nd Global Qualifier Play-Off; and Ben Zen, who won the Mexico Finals.

Looking ahead, the next spot in the HUGAN ePremier12 will be filled via the ePremier12 Japan Finals, which take place on 29 September at the Tokyo Game Show 2024 and is made up of the top eight players from the Japan eBaseball™ Cup. The champion of the ePremier12 Japan Finals will claim a berth to the HUGAN ePremier12.

Following that, the ePremier12 Europe Finals will take place on 5 October at Bluenergy Stadium in Udine, Italy. That in-person tournament will feature the two best European players who qualified from the online Europe eBaseball™ Cup presented by FIBS battling it out for a spot in the HUGAN ePremier12.

Finally, on 25 October, the ePremier12 USA Finals will take place in Raleigh, North Carolina, USA on the campus of North Carolina State University. This in-person tournament will feature the six best United States players who qualified through the USA eBaseball™ Power League and the USA eBaseball™ Cup presented by USA Baseball competing for two spots in the HUGAN ePremier12. The wild cards are expected to be announced on early October.
