Chiriqui wins Panama's Baseball National Championship

It's the 17th title for the franchise. Chiriqui won the rubber match of the best-of-seven final series against the defending champions Colon in front of 18,921 fans at Rod Carew Stadium in Panama City.

Chiriqui beat the defending champions Colon in the best-of-seven final to win their 17th Panama National Championship (Beisbol Mayor).

Chiriqui won the rubber match, 6-3, in front of 18,921 fans at the Rod Carew Stadium in Panama City. With the game tied at three, Chiriqui scored the winning runs in the bottom of the eighth thanks to runs batted in by Luis Jordàn and Jonathan Saavedra. Reliever Abdiel Saldaña earned the win allowing only one hit over 3.2 innings.

The 12-team regular season started on March 8 at the Rod Carew Stadium in Panama City. Each team played 16 games.

The top eight finishers participated in a round-robin. Chiriqui finished first, with Colon second, Darién third and Chiriqui Occident fourth.

Both the semifinal series finished in six games. Chiriqui eliminated Chiriqui Occident and Colon beat Darièn.

The Panama Baseball Federation (Fedebeis) revealed that the 2024 Beisbol Mayor and Youth Championships editions attracted over 400,000 fans. Cocle won the Youth Championship (Beisbol Menor).

Fedebeis also announced that the U-23 National Championship opened on Friday, 17 May. The tournament involves six teams and over 180 players. A pre-selection for the U-23 National Team is participating as an invitee.
