18U BWC: Mexico gets first victory against Czech Republic

With 8 runs in the 7th, the Northamericans secured a 12-2 mercy-rule win against the European team

TAICHUNG STADIUM. Mexico scored 8 runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to mercy-rule 12-2 the game against the Czech Republic in the second day at the XXVI 18U baseball World Cup in Taichung, Chinese Taipei.

Mexico scored with the very first batter of the game, Cruz, who was walked by the Czech starter Satoria, reached second on a wild pitch and home on a single by Mercado.

Another run came in the second out of a sac fly by Meza and two in the fourth, but the game was far from decided yet, in fact, the Europeans filled the bases with two walks and a single given up by Mexican starter Garcia, who

The teams collected 5 hits each, both getting 3 out of the respective leadoffs, Ondracek and Mercado.
