Handa’s stellar pitching help Brazil dominate Colombia

Amanda Handa’s dominant pitching and Brazil's efficient offence powered a 7-0 victory over Colombia in the WBSC U-18 Women’s Softball World Cup, with Handa allowing just one hit in five innings.

Brazil, led by right-hander Amanda Handa’s one-hit performance, claimed a commanding 7-0 victory over Colombia in five innings at the WBSC U-18 Women's Softball World Cup Group A at Estádio Municipal de Beisebol Mie Nishi on Tuesday.

Handa’s dominant outing included four walks and two strikeouts, as Colombia’s defence faltered with five errors. Brazil’s Maya Mune, Beatriz Miyoshi, and Emily Freitas each contributed key RBIs, ensuring only two of Brazil’s seven runs were earned.

Colombia loaded the bases in the second inning but failed to capitalise, as Handa retired the next two batters. Brazil took the lead in the bottom of the second with Mune’s RBI double. They extended their lead with a three-run third inning, off Freitas’ two-RBI single and Miyoshi’s run-scoring single.

Brazil added two more runs in the fourth on a throwing error and a grounder to second base. Mune capped off the game with an RBI single in the fifth, securing Brazil’s 7-0 victory.
