The eight-team tournament is a qualifier for the WBSC U-18 Baseball World Cup 2021. Korea is the reigning champion of Asia in the youth U-18 category.

The Baseball Federation of Asia (BFA) announced new dates for the XIII U-18 Asian Championship, originally scheduled for September. The tournament will be held in Kaohsiung, a 2.7 million people port city in the south of Taiwan, from 20 to 26 December.

The eight-team continental championship will serve as a qualifier for the WBSC U-18 Baseball World Cup 2021. Korea are the reigning U-18 Asian baseball champions.

The participating teams in the BFA U-18 Championship will be split into two groups. The top two finishers will compete in the Super Round to determine the gold and bronze medal games, scheduled on Saturday, 26 December.

Teams representing their respective countries/territories earn the right to participate in the U-18 Baseball Asian Championship through the WBSC World Rankings. The right goes to world No. 1 Japan, Korea (No. 2), Chinese Taipei (4), China (22), Pakistan (27), Hong Kong (30), Philippines (32) and Sri Lanka (37).

Federations will have to confirm their participation by Sunday, 12 July.

The Baseball Federation of Asia, a continental arm of the WBSC, was founded in 1954 and has 24 member federations.
